History of the Wedding Kiss!!

Couple first official Kiss !

The Kiss: A Love Story That Began Thousands of Years Ago

By Korbman and Company
As wedding photographers, we spend a lot of time capturing one moment in particular: the kiss.
The first kiss as newlyweds.
The kiss during a quiet moment on the dance floor.
The kiss that nobody sees except us.
But have you ever wondered where kissing began?
Historians believe people have been kissing for at least
4,500 years, with some of the earliest references appearing in ancient Mesopotamian and Indian writings. Yet many researchers think kissing is far older than that possibly predating recorded history itself.
Imagine that.
For thousands of years, across countless generations, people have expressed love, affection, comfort, celebration, and commitment with a simple kiss.
And somehow, every wedding day still makes it feel brand new.

More Than a Tradition
The wedding kiss is one of the few moments that everyone anticipates.
Guests lean forward.
Parents smile.
The officiant steps aside.
For just a second, time seems to pause.
It's not simply a tradition. It's a public declaration of something deeply personal.
That's why photographers love it.
Not because it's expected, but because no two kisses are ever the same.
Some couples laugh.
Some cry.
Some go in for a quick peck.
Others forget there are 200 people watching.
Each one tells a different story.

The Kiss We Wait For
When we photograph weddings, we're always ready for the first kiss.
But some of our favorite images happen afterward.
The look that follows.
The embrace.
The spontaneous second kiss.
The smile that says, "We actually did it."
Those are the moments that reveal who you are as a couple.
A Moment Thousands of Years in the Making
Long before wedding venues, Instagram posts, and digital cameras, couples were celebrating love with a kiss.
Today, we have the privilege of preserving those moments for future generations.
And while trends may change, one thing hasn't:
A kiss remains one of the most powerful expressions of love ever captured.
What's your favorite movie, television, or real-life kiss?
